How To Get The Best Lawn Service Pricing

Posted by: Nick DiBenedetto on February 22, 2019

Spring will be here sooner than you think!  Have you selected your lawn service company for the 2019 Season?  If not, don’t worry, you’re not alone!  You may be wondering how to know if you are paying too much.  Before setting off on an internet search for lawn service companies and picking the first on the list, do a little homework.

Signs of a Reputable Lawn Care Company

Know your property square footage.  Once the lawn care company identifies which areas you wish to treat, they should then provide you with your turf square footage, and base your pricing on that; not your full lot which includes your home, tree and shrub beds, swimming pool, gardens, and/or concrete.

Are their technicians licensed and knowledgeable?  Another key feature to consider in the pricing of lawn service is the skill and knowledge of the technicians who will be coming to your property.  You should feel free to question the company about their employees’ backgrounds.  Also, are they willing to talk with you about additional services and how your lawn may benefit from them?  Services like aeration and over-seeding should be explained and advantages discussed based on your lawn.

Cost versus Price

The fine print.  When you take a closer look at the lawn care company's package details do you find fine print showing what it doesn't include or do you find the phrase "Green healthy lawn guaranteed"?  The $29.99 special may seem like a great price but when you read the fine print you may find that only applies to your first application or doesn't include all of the products and services your lawn requires leaving you to invest additional time and money.

If you have been doing your own lawn care, add up the cost of the products you purchased last year and then consider how much your time is worth - not only applying the products but standing in line to buy those products.  How much family time did you miss while you did lawn treatments on the weekends?  Another thing to consider, are you in fact getting the appropriate treatments down at the right time for them to be most effective?  What would be the cost to repair or replace your lawn if it is damaged because you did an application wrong or at the wrong time?

Let the Experts Help!

The best thing to do is to hire a North Shore Lawn Care Professional to make all the applications for you.  They will fertilize as well as perform weed control preventative and spot treatments.  After adding up the cost of materials and your time, you will likely find it doesn’t cost much more to have a skilled and knowledgeable professional care your lawn.
